CHICAGO: Sikh Community of Metropolitan Chicago Land participated in July 4 parades to celebrate America’s 215th Independence day. A float decorated with Nishan Sahib U.S. flags and a large size Khanda accompanied a large Sikh marching unit carrying U.S. flags in the Palatine parade The arrangements were made by S.Mohinderjit Singh Saini the social secretary of Sikh Religious Society of Chicago In a similar manner Sikh residents of Schaumbure and Hoffman estate area also participated in the parade of Hoffman estates where Sikh children entered a bicycle unit and received wide media coverage. This Sikh contingent was organized by S.Surinder Pal Singh Kalra. “It is very important for Sikhs to participate in as many different American events as possible to obtain good exposure” said Sikh religious society president S. Harbans Singh Sangha.
