ITANAGAR: Floods coupled with landslides have battered Arunachal Pradesh for the last three months disrupting surface communication in many places according to official reports received here.

In the first week of May at least 42 army Jawans were missing as the army camp near Tawang was washed away. Two more villages in the same area had been similarly wiped out.

Tawang the headquarter of Tawang district remained cut-off for about 15 days though communication was partially restored now.

In the second week of May 16 villages were submerged and as many as 10,000 people were affected in Namsai and Mahadev pur circles of Lohit district damaging standing crop and killing cattle.

Despite prompt relief measures by the govt the people were yet to recover from the impact of floods.

Tezu headquarter of Lohit district still remained cut-off due to damage of road.
