PATNA: Bihar Police claimed to have busted a gang suspected to have links with separatist United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) militants of Assam and Jammu and Kashmir.

The police recently arrest two persons on charges of supplying detonators from Badajamd a railway station, situated on the Chaibasa-Gua section, about 140 kms from here.

Superintendent of police, Singh bhum, M Kiro, told newsmen here Tuesday that the standard explosive industries of Barbil in Keonjhar district in Orissa had been supplying detonators packed in parcels under false name through Badajamda railway station to Assam, Kashmir and some parts of Bihar.

Kiro said on information from Bhalumukh police station in Assam that police swung into action and arrested the son of the owner of the explosive factory, and an employee. Police has launched a vigorous search for three other employees. The case of the detonators came to light, Mr Kiro said when a parcel containing them weighing 14 kilogram was detected at Guwahati Railway station. This parcel was dispatched from Badajamda Railway station on June 22 by one B D Agarwal marked “for itself”.

Police said on interrogation, the booking clerk of Badajamda station had disclosed that on April 14 one B Kumar had sent 650 kg detonators in 13 cartons to Guwahati.

Transactions by the explosive industry have been suspended and police has seized incriminating documents.

Kiro said police had confirmed that some agents at Guwahati and Kashmir took delivery of the cartons containing detonators which ultimately reached the ULFA and other militant groups. Kiro also said that the possibility of movement of ULFA militants in border areas of West Bengal, Bihar and Orissa could not be ruled out.
