I would like to draw attention to the inaccuracy in article; Myth of the Hindu Roots of Sikhism (Book Review) in WSN dated July 27 ,1991 the writer says that evolution of Hindu word is from word Sindh (Indus) mighty river in Pakistan
Fact is that Hindu is an Arabic word like Lala and Hindu Kush (Mountain range in Pakistan/Afghanistan). In Arabic Hindu means thief and Lala means slave. These (Kush killing) names to Indians were given by invading Muslims starting with Mohammed Bin Bakasm (first Muslim invader from Arabia at end of 6th century).
This fact was explained by Dr.Sohan Singh in his speech in Chandigarh Gurdwara in early 80’s. Govt filed a case against him for defaming an Indian community in Punjab &Haryana High Court. Retired Justice S. Ajit Singh Bains presided over the case was dropped by govt because it could not provide any evidence to contradict Dr.Sohan Singh remarks.
This writer either does not knows these facts or is he trying to please somebody?
