MADRAS: In a major breakthrough the CBI Friday night arrested Nalini and Murugan suspects in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case near madras. The chief of the special investigation team (SIT) Karthikeyan told PTI that Nalini and Murugan were nabbed by a CBI team on board a state transport bus between Villupuram in south Arcot district of Tamil Nadu and Madras.
Karthikeyan said the SIT had received a tip-off from CBI men that Nalini and Murugan had left towards Madras from Villupuram by a state transport bus. He said the CBI teams were lying in wait at various points enroute and at Madras to nab them.
Both were now being interrogated at Madras the SIT chief said while describing the arrest as a major coming as it did three days after the arrest of two persons wanted in connection with the assassination case. Bhagynathan and Padma brother and mother of Nalini.
