CHANDIGARH: A pro-Hindu BJP leader and 11 militants were among 16 people killed in Punjab and Chandigarh on May 30 police said.
Vijay Kumar Gupta an executive committee member of the Chandigarh unit of the BJP was shot dead by two militants near his home in Sector 40-A here Thursday morning.
Markets were immediately closed in some sectors of Chandigarh as the news about his killing spread.
Baldev Singh a commander of the Khalistan Commando Force and another militant Balbir Singh were killed in an encounter near Brahmanwala village in Tarn Taran district police said.
