NEW DELHI: The tenth Lok Sabha (lower house of parliament) will be constituted by June 20 a fresh proclamation issued by President Ramaswamy Venkataraman said Thursday.

A presidential palace press communique said the proclamation was issued by Venkataraman on the advice of the election commission

In the earlier communique dissolving the ninth Lok Sabha the president had directed the constitution of the new lower house on or before June 5 and the election commission had accordingly drawn up the election schedule to be completed by May 31

The new communique said owing to the tragic assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and apprehended unsettled conditions in the country the election commission has revised the dates of election to

The remaining constituencies and had advised the president that the election process could except in Punjab be completed by June 18, 1991.
