SILIGURI: Tension gripped Siliguri town May 18 over the missing of 1056 ballot papers from the general post office here.
The postmaster S K Das said that 545 postal ballots of the Siliguri and Phansidewa (ST) assembly segments and 511 of the Darjeeling assembly constituency were “snatched” by an employee of the West Bengal government and state leader of the “12th July committee”.
Das has lodged a first information report with the Siliguri police station over the incident.
