CHANDIGARH: A former Punjab minister Malkiat Singh Sidhu his gunman and a top militant were among 21 persons killed in Punjab since April 28.

Police said the top militant Dhirpal Singh of the Khalistan Liberation Force and wanted in nearly 24 castes was killed in an “inter-gang” clash near Ludhiana Sunday. One girl was also killed in the incident.

The militant was the Lt Gen of another militant outfit BTF before joining the KLE police said.

Militants attacked the car of Sidhu who was Akali Dal (Mann) candidate from two assembly constituencies Baghapurana and Moga elections to which have been countermanded was attacked near his house in Saturday night. Sidhu was returning from a friend’s house. He and his gunman died at the scene.
