SRINAGAR: Four persons including three militants were killed and 11 subversives arrested in the northern most Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir since Monday while uncertainty prevails over the fate of the two kidnapped Swedes.
Two Punjab militants were killed in Kothi village of Hira Nagar sector in Jammu in an encounter with border security personnel around 0200 hrs Tuesday.
Official sources said in Jammu a large quantity of arms and ammunition including three AK-47 rifles six pistols25 grenades and explosive material were recovered from their bodies,
Security forces Tuesday arrested four militants in Rajouri Poonch districts and recovered some arms and ammunition from them.
Meanwhile un-certainty continued to prevail over the fate of the two Swedes abducted from the valley by militants 17 days ago. The Muslim Jaanbaaz force militants have given a deadline for Tuesday midnight for conceding their demands. They have asked for Amnesty International and U N teams to visit Kashmir.
Official sources said search operations to trace the two Swedes Johan Jasson and Jan-Ole-Loman were going on vigorously.
A Pakistan trained militant was killed when security forces fired back after they were attacked at Saidpura-Zakoora on the outskirts of Srinagar Monday an official spokesman said.
He said a driver was killed and a passenger injured when militants fired at a taxi in which they were travelling Monday. The taxi was on its way to this state capital from Ganderbal and was fired at Malshai Bagh on Monday evening.
Seven suspected subversives including a Pakistan trained militant were captured in Srinagar and Pulwamaon Monday he said.
