PILIBHIT: A police head constable was killed and four other persons seriously injured when six militants opened fire at them in a hotel at Majhola about 24 km from this town in Uttar Pradesh late Thursday police said.
Two injured constables of Nooria police station were admitted to the barely district hospital while two others were rushed to another hospital.
The militants fled towards the nearby hill station of Nainital leaving behind their jeep and some arms and ammunition police said.
Head constable Ram Raj Singh and his two colleagues Munna Babu and Sripal Misra were eating in the hotel when the assailants came in a jeep and opened fire
The cause of the incident could not be ascertained police said.
Two others who had sustained injuries were identified as Ramu anemployee of the Majhola Sugar Mills and Satyapal Singh of the excise department’s police said
