NEW DELHI: Five senior leaders of erstwhile ruling Janata Dal including Arun Nehru have decided not to contest the coming parliamentary polls protesting against what they said the “queer” policies of former prime minister V.P.Singh.
The five leaders have written to the party president S.R.Bommai conveying their decision to opt out of the coming elections as also from the party panels being set up in connection with the elections.
The others who have signed the letter are Anf Mohd Khan Satpal Malik Ram Dhan and Dinesh Trivedi.
Arun Nehru said 20 MLAs of the party in the dissolved assembly of Uttar Pradesh and assemblies of some other states had “endorsed” their stand.
These leaders had formed the — erstwhile Jan Morcha faction of the Janata Dal who had revolted against the leadership in Congress (I) along with VP.Singh over four years ago.
