RALLA BATHINDA: The Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib University affiliated to the Punjabi University Patiala is coming up in Ralla village. The proposed university will have an engineering college education college trade polytechnic pharmacy dept. and an agriculture college. A public school will start functioning soon.

The Ralla village panchayat has donated 212 acres village Bhopal has promised 70 acres and 100 acres of village Dera are to be acquired

A Trust Fund has been set up. The SGPC has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh. Sikhs in the U S$ and Canada will rise over Rs 30 lakhs according to the chairman of the trust S Sharanjit Singh Chahal of Irvine.

Ralla village has a holy place connected with Jogi Pir a disciple of Guru Hargobind Sahib who was deputed for the propagation of Sikhism in the Malwabelt. The entire Chahal clan holds Jogi Pir in high esteem and donates liberally in his name. About 40 villages in Bathinda district are inhabited by the Chahal clan.

Mr Chahal said that in the second phase of the project an agricultural research center would be set up at the complex in collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University. Since the Chief Secretary Mr Tejinder Khanna belongs to this area Mr Chahal hoped that he would extend all possible cooperation for raising this educational complex.
