NEW DELHI: The Janata Dal (Socialist) Monday cautioned the Bharatiya Janata Party against making the Babri mosque dispute “an electoral issue” for the forthcoming Lok Sabha mid-term poll as it would” generate communal tension and violence.”
“Religion should not be mixed with politics” the Janata Dal spokesman Satya Prakash Malviya told reporters here.
He said the Janata Dal (S) supported the construction of a Rama temple at Ayodhya but not at the cost of demolition of the mosque.”
If this was made an issue in the elections it would again generate communal tension and violence and “this should be avoided by all political parties” Malviya said.
“There is no change in our stand that the issue should be settled amicably.
“If this is not possible we should await the verdict of Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court” Malviya said
