CHANDIGARH: In the wake of negotiations between Delhi and militants proposed by Akali leader Simranjit Singh Mann Bhai Nishan Singh Makhu as It general of Rajasthan group was arrested by the police. He presumably came to meet Mann to discuss the idea. Mann later had to intervene and seek Makhus release through a top central authority. Mann tried in vain to get Makhu freed by Governor Malhotra who obliged the Akali leader with the assurance that Makhu would not be killed. Bhai Nishan Singh was later freed to avoid embarrassment to Mann.
