NEW DELHI: The President’s rule in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir has been extended by six months.
The parliament Wednesday approved the extension and premier Chandra Shekhar expressed the hope that Pakistan would realise that tension between the two nations would not help.
Intervening during the discussion on the official resolution on extension of central rule in the border state Chandra Shekhar said there was a slight change in Pakistan’s attitude towards Kashmir but added we cannot depend on that.
While stating that the change was a welcome sign the prime minister underlined the need to develop an atmosphere of cordiality.
He declared that Kashmir would remain an integral part of India at all costs.
