RAMGARH LUDHIANA: Lying of foundation stone of Mai Bhago College under Mai Bhago Educational and Cheritable trust was performed by Pauj Pyaras led by Sant Tirath Singh (Seva Panthi) of Gunyana Mandi district Bathinda at village Ramgarh eight miles from Ludhiana on Ludhiana-Chandigarh Road on Jan 8. Mai Bhago College under the trust had started functioning for the year 1991 earlier.

The trust in the College is named after a great personality of the Sikh history Mai Bhago who belonged to the family of Paro Shah a devoted follower of Guru Arjan Dey ji. It was Mai Bhago who not only put to shame the deserters of the Guru but also rallied them and organised them and others. She led them at the battle of Muktsar where Guru Gobind Singh tore away the letter of desertion on the request of Mahan Singh in the year 1762 and thus wiped the black “spot on the face of Sikh nation. Truly the name is befitting and should be motto for the women folk women’s colleges. Education of the rural women is the need of the hour. This college is expected to serve at least fifty villages in the area in the present times.

Punjab especially the rural areas do not have many The trust has the important objective of imparting higher education to rural girls and women by opening colleges and rural institutions which could be the nerve centers of all social cultural and educational activities. The trust will strive to uplift the women of backward classes.

Dr. Khem Singh Gill Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University is the Chief Patroncum Advisor of the Trust and through his good offices Punjab Agricultural University has undertaken the job of planning and designing of the multistory college building landscaping and designing of the hostel building and to provide all other technical assistance free of charge.
