BARODA: Police sifted through bundles of Khalistani literature recovered from a building in Juna station area where militants engaged the police in a shoot-out recently even as no clue was forthcoming on whether the men died of police bullets or they committed suicide.

A post-mortem on the three militants identified as Baldev Singh Ravinder Singh and Jagir Singh alias Jaggi was performed at the SSG hospital here but the police was tight-lipped over the outcome of the investigations.

Eleven of the 13 persons who were arrested were taken to an undisclosed destination for an intensive interrogation conducted jointly by the Bombay and Gujarat Police. Two other persons who suffered bullet injuries were admitted to the SSG hospital.

Two AK 47 assault rifles and about 316 live cartridges were recovered from the room on the first floor of the building where two militants were found dead at the culmination of the operation carried out by the National Security Guards (NSG). Among those who surrendered just after the Bombay Police swooped in on the building the previous night was Sukhvinder Kaur the 25-year-old wife of Baldev Singh.

The two reportedly got married on December 2 just two days before Baldev and his men allegedly shot dead three traffic policemen in a Bombay suburb. Two other women Joginder Kaur 60 and Balveer Kaur 30 are also in custody along with a five year-old girl Pinky.

Sukhvinder Baldev’s wife is understood to have told the police that they came to Baroda on January 22 and took refuge in the building where some relatives were staying.
