BHUBANESWAR: The Nandankanan biological park near here in the eastern Indian state of Orissa will soon have a new attraction— the world’s first white tiger safari.

The Rs 27-lakh project being set up on a twelve hectare area within the Chandra forest is fast nearing completion. It will be inaugurated later this month.

According to Mr S K Patnaik director of the zoo Nandankanan which has the unique distinction of evolving a new strain of white tiger different from that of the Rewa origin now preserves 24 white tigers the biggest collection in the world.

The park already has the country’s biggest lion Safari with ten African lions roaming the sprawling natural enclosure.
