CALGARY: A Sikh has been charged with five sex-related offenses.
Balraj Singh Sidhu the 38-yearold head priest of the Brahan Bungha Spiritual Association is charged with two counts of sexual assault two counts of having sexual relations with a young person while in a position of authority and buggery with a female.
It’s alleged two women were involved in the offenses which police charge took place between 1985 and 1990.
An association executive said Sidhu has “become a very very powerful figure in the worldwide Sikh community in the last four years
“He is responsible for the organization of Sikh prayers worldwide as per the instructions from the head office in India” said the official who didn’t want to be named
