CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal president Simranjit Singh Mann said any struggle democratic or armed has ultimately to be resolved across the table.
In a statement here the Akali leader said the Sikhs or any other organisations should dispel the notion that the Sikh struggle was only for gaining political power. It is for the realisation of the goal of the Sikh Panth he said.
Mann said his talks with New Delhi were aimed at apprising the government of the rights of the Sikhs.
Mann appealed to the entire Sikh community to be united in the present struggle and lend their whole hearted support to the Sikh cause.
He said the Sikh community had reached a critical juncture because of continuous denial of their rights by successive Indian governments.
Operation Bluestar in 1984 sparked off the Sikh struggle which was based on the ideologies of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and is continuing for the realisation of his goal he said.
Mann said it was essential for the Sikh Community including religious and militant organisations and Akalis to rise above factionalism and greed for political power and unite against the center’s repressive policies
