NEW DELHI: The federal government Jan 16 submitted in the Delhi High Court that courts did not have any jurisdiction in the matter of disqualification of a Member of Parliament under the anti-defection law.

An amended affidavit which Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar had said would be moved submitted that decisions by the chairman of the Rajya Sabha or speaker of the Lok Sabha would be final.

The affidavit said the decision of the speaker under para six of the tenth schedule of the constitution (decision on question as to disqualification on ground of defection) could not be challenged in any court under para seven.
