SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed in separate incidents while two subversives were arrested and one militant ‘surrendered before the security forces in the Kashmir valley since Jan 5.

The Indian flag was burnt and black flags hoisted in downtown Srinagar Baramulla and Sopore against the so called non-implementation of the 1949 UN resolution at the instance of the outlawed Tehrik-E-Jehad Islamia and peoples league.

In fact the resolution passed by the united nation commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) on Jan 5 1949 rejected the idea of plebiscite in the valley following Pakistan’s refusal to fulfill the obligations of the earlier resolution passed on Aug 13, 1948.

The August 1948 resolution laid down two conditions for plebiscite. They were; firstly Pakistan should stop supporting the raiders in the valley and secondly it must withdraw its troops from the forcibly occupied area of Kashmir pending the final solution. India is harping on these conditions and using them as an excuse meanwhile a security man was attacked at the busy business area of the city.

In Jammu 2 bomb blast on Friday night damaged a building a spokesman said.

One Pak trained militant surrendered before the security forces along with one universal machine gun three magazines and some ammunition Friday.
