AHMEDABAD: Sister Marie Juliette an 86-yr-old French nun was Jan 10 awarded the legion of honour the highest national honour of France by the French Ambassador to India Mr Andre Lewin.

Like Mother Teresa Sister Marie made India her home and served the people affected by leprosy. She left France and arrived at Nagpur at the very young age of 21. Her grand nephews and nieces visited her in India and requested her to return but she turned down their request as my mission is yet to be accomplished.

Sister Marie along with two other French nuns came to Ahmedabad in 1949 and started a new leprosy Asylum in the Astodia area which was later shifted to narol recently. Always smiling she used to collect funds in the city for the Asylum.
