Sir,
I happened to see in the Dec 14, 1990 issue of WSN a small box stating that the paper will not be published during the week of December 28 on account of Christmas & New Year.
I would like very much to know why the WSN feels it needs to close for Christmas a Christian holiday. It would be far more appropriate if the WSN felt it needed to close for New Year alone since it is secular holiday or even for “winter holidays”.
I am certain that many of your readers who support the newspaper because of its promotion of Sikh viewpoints do not appreciate the paper closing for a non-Sikh, religious holiday.

(It is indeed amazing that anyone should ask such a question. America is by and large Christian and Christmas is a national holiday. The presses and the post offices are closed The Staff of WSN has Americans on it would it be secular to ask them to work during their major religious holiday? Editor)
