NEW DEHLI: Five ministers, including Vidya Charan Shukla and Shakeel ur Rehman, have sent in their resignations to the prime minister following their disqualification from the membership of the Lok Sabha.

But Chandra Shekhar rejected their resignation letters saying there was no need for them to quit and that they should continue.

Besides Shukla and Rehman others who had sent in their resignations were Bhagey Gobardhan, Sarwar Hussain and Basavraj Patil Anwari.

The Congress-I, which is supporting the Janata-S government from outside, demanded the resignation of the five ministers. Their stepping down would be in keeping with democratic traditions, AICC-I general secretary, H, K. L-  Bhagat said.
