NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar Jan 4 said talks with the Punjab militants would be held only on Indian soil and there would be no compromise with the unity integrity and honor of the country.
Addressing the Janata Dal (S) party in Parliament (JDPP-S) he said any solution to the Punjab problem had to be within the framework of the constitution.
Referring to the deployment of army in Punjab he clarified that this had been primarily done to give support to the border security force (BSF) to check infiltration of men and smuggling of arms from across the border. He said the army would not be involved in running the civil administration

Briefing reporters S P Malay and Harmohan Dhavans both ministers said the prime minister apprised the members of the present political and economic situation in the country which according to him is very difficult Talks with Mann.
He asked party members to remain in Delhi and actively participate in the proceedings of parliament and remain alert.
The members who spoke dealt with the business before the house and also about waiving of farmers loans.
MS Usha Singh minister of state for tourism said the law and order situation in Bihar was very bad and in this context she referred to the murder of the superintendent of police Dhanbad. The meeting lasted one hour and forty five minutes.
