BHUVANESHWARI (HARYANA): Indian premier Chandra Shekhar Jan 6 assailed the critics of his government’s offer of talks with Punjab militants saying that the bullet could not be a solution to the problem.
Opening a function organized here to mark the eighth anniversary of his padyatra cross-country marathon walk from Kanyakumari to Delhi from Jan 6 to June 231983 he said many senior leaders of various political parties were challenging him on his offer to initiate talks on Punjab and insisting that I should disclose the contents of my discussion with an Akali Dal leader recently.
He said one should not forget the fact that the bullet is not a solution to every problem. Several problems become amenable to solution when approached with love and tenderness. Such an approach would be in keeping with Indian tradition and the values propounded by numerous saints and religious heads through the ages.
