CHANDIGARH: The Union Government has appointed Tejinder Khanna as Chief Secretary of Punjab in place of Sardari Lal Kapur, according to official sources.
Earlier, the Centre had withdrawn K.P.S. Gill as Director General of Police, Punjab and had appointed D.S. Mangat instead.
Khanna served as principal secretary to the then Chief Minister Darbara Singh and was frequently mentioned as the one who had a hand in framing and implementing -a Strong anti-Sikh policy and had issued personal instructions to junior officers to kill detained Sikh youths in fake encounters. He was ‘also a champion of early completion of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal to deprive one-third of Punjab the irrigation facility,
Kapur’s and K.P.S, Gill’s replacement was demanded by Simranjit Singh Mann and a few militant organization’s some time ago.
