NEW DELHI: Mohammed Aslam Khan Chef-De-Mission of the Indian contingent to Beijing Asian games has recommended in his report that performances of several Indian sportspersons should be inquired

Khans report submitted to the Indian Olympic association (TOA) said it has to be ascertained how the cycling team got selected and cleared and also to find out who conducted the feminity test in India as one hockey player failed to clear the test at the games.

Strangely dismissing the performance of Judokas as new sport for us the report says that one of the players tried hard for a medal but was pushed down due to rules of the game.

That India landed with three losers bronze medals at the 1986 Seoul Asiad which gave Judo the status of priority discipline escaped the attention of the Chef-De-Mission.

IN athletics Khan took note of Muralidharan pot starting the 400m race and quotes unconfirmed sources of informing him that the athlete deliberately scuttled the race. He recommended that action be taken against Murnlidharan if the charge was true. The reports were unanimously approved at the LOA special general assembly here.

The report remained silent on Arjun Deviah pulling out of the 200m race as well as USHA opting out of the 100m at the last minute depriving India of the opportunity of fielding the reserves.

However the chef-se-mission submitted that he would give individual performance chan in the final report.

Describing performance of Bahadur Prasad as worst he attributed it to personal reasons and lack of dedication.

He said he was unaware that Dina Ram -whom he praised for winning the silver in 3000m steeple chase -ran barefoot

Similarly in boxing Khan charged that results are manufactured and the Asian boxing federation tried to ensure results citing that Gopal Dewang was robbed of a gold medal.

However he said no word on why an official protest by committee at the games if India felt cheated on the semifinal decision that went against Dewang.

The report suggests drastic steps should be taken to improve the discipline and seck the help of services in order to better the Sport.

Regarding men’s hockey Khan who is also the vice president of the Indian hockey federation said with only seven players performing the result was not very discouraging.
