CALCUTTA: The Pakistan cricket teams forthcoming tour to India has been postponed.
The Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan (BCCP) has decided to postpone the Pakistan cricket team’s forthcoming tour to India to play in the Asia Cup Super-Cup (Wills Trophy) and official Test series to a later date to be settled mutually according to BCCP Secretary Arif Abbasi.
In a communication sent to Jagmohan Dalmiya Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Deo.13 Abbasi said”*Due to public opinion in the country and the situation being what it is in India one wonders whether for the sake of maintaining good relations would it not be pertinent to postpone the commitments to & date which would be more conducive to such import events.”
Abbasi said “Taking into account public feelings both in your and my country perhaps it would not be a bad idea to carry these commitments to a mutually agreed date after the next World Cup.”
“However it is also ones considered opinion that if public feeling and conditions improved rapidly as one wishes then perhaps we can come to India at an earlier date for the Super Cup Asia Cup as well as the official tour. One hopes that this will elicit your effective cooperation” Abbasi concluded.
