PATIALA: The Panthic Committee Dec 27 said it was ready for talks with the government provide the place was mull acceptable and a written agenda for the talks sent.

Referring to prime minister Chandra Shekhar’ offer for talks with militants in the strife torn state the committee in press not, said in principle it was not against any talks but would “throughly” go into any offer of talks and “inspect it from every point of view.

‘The Sikh religion accords high status to human values, The KhaIsa (religion) is not in favour of ‘unnecessary bloodshed in any matter which could be solved through talks”, the committee said adding ‘that it would welcome any sincere offer for talks.

In addition to insisting on having a written agenda for the talks, the committee said “any talks between government and the committee could beheld either at Akal ‘Takht Sahib (in the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar) or at Geneva or the U.N. headquarters in New York or any other mutually acceptable place within the ‘county.

“The committee should be accorded a minimum of one month to hold talks so that the committee could consult experts in religion, political science, history, economy, sociology and diplomatic fields to send its negotiators.

‘The seven page press note was signed by all five members of the ‘committee Dr Sohan Singh, Bhai Mahal Singh, Bhai Satinderpal ‘Singh, Bhai Wadhawa Singh and Bhai Harminder Singh Sultan wind.

The committee said “all militant factions and al sincere, impartial and justice loving persons should be included in the discussions.”
