CHANDIGARH: Lt. Gen. Bakshi Krishan Nath Chhibber (retd) was swom in as the 28th Governor of Punjab, here, on Sept.18.
‘The acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice R.P. Sethi, administered the oath at a simple ceremony in the lawns of the Punjab Raj Bhavan.
The Chief Minister, Beant Singh, his Cabinet colleagues, senior civil and police officers from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and senior Army officers were present at the ceremony.
In a brief informal chat with the media persons after taking over, General Chhibber said, “Punjab Zindabad is my priority. My endeavor would be to see Punjab on the top in every sphere.”
Commissioned in the Army in 1958, he held many staff, instructional and command posts before being appointed Adviser (Security) to the Punjab Government. He has been serving in Punjab since November, 1987, first as GOC of Amritsar Division and later as commander.

Gen Chhibber is the second retired Army General to be appointed Punjab Governor after General O.P, Malhotra.
