Two prominent East Indian businessmen were assassinated on the orders of one person, who sent the triggermen into hiding in the San Francisco area, police Intelligence sources say. Official, police have never linked the slayings of broadcaster Lali Vij and businessman Dhian Thapar, were both killed execution style, sending shock waves through Metro’s East Indian community.

But privately, several police sources say the murders were definitely ordered by the same person and they know the identity of that person.

Vij produced radio and television shows for CHIN radio and CFMTTY, Thapar was also a producer and, after Vij’s, death took over a program he had founded.

It was 17 months ago that Vij’s wife Uaha saw a gunman shoot her husband repeatedly in a behind his television studio on College St. at Paimerston Blvd.

A second man may have been involved in the killing of Vij, who for years produced the Sounds program heard Sundays on CHIN radio.

Seven months later, in February, 1992, the assassins struck again, slaying Thapar a wealthy and landlord.
