NEW DELHI: Wife of the abducted Romanian diplomat here Caterina Radu Thursday said se- curing the safe release of her husband was the responsibility of the Indian Government and it should take “every step that war- rants his return”.

“It is the responsibility of the Indian govt to ensure the safe re- tum of my husband”, she said. She said the Indian envoy to Romania – Julius Ribeiro had been well protected by the Romanian govt and she expected as More concern and protection here to her husband. Asked if there had been any move on the part of the Romanian govt to release the two militants held in Romania following an attack on Ribeiro, as has been demanded by the kidnappers, she said this demand had only been made in the press and was not in the original letter of conditions sent by the militants to news agency offices, “It is an unconfirmed demand, only according to the press. It was not in the letter they (the militants) sent”, she said.
