SRINAGAR: The Border Security Force claimed to have discovered an arms smuggling nexus between Punjab and Kashmir militants by arresting atop Punjab militant, Lakhwinder Singh alias “Kala” in north Kashmir recently, Lakhwinder Singh, a close associate of G.S.Manochahal and one of the four top leaders of the Bhindranwale Tigers Force of Khalistan (BTFK) was arrested froma hideout at Nowpora Gageer in Baramulla district last month, Lakhwinder, a resident of Sultanwind in Amritsar and formerly an activist of Babbar Khalsa outfit, was deputed by Manochahal to Kashmir last year for purchase of arms and ammunition which were running short in Punjab in view Of tremendous pressure by the security forces, Lakhwinder who came here last June, went to Singh Bagh Gurdwara in Baramulla where he came in contact with the local militants who took him to Sopore, haven of militants” in Kashmir for purpose of weapons, the spokesman said.
He said the militant confessed having procured weapons worth Rs 8 lakh from Sopore town, and smuggled them into Punjab on frit laden trucks.
