CHANDIGARH: The Ropar superintendent of police (headquarters), Joginder Singh Khera, was killed in an ambush by militants in Ropar district Wednesday.
Elsewhere in Punjab a police inspector and three of his sons, and nine militants were among 18 persons killed. A police post was looted, while the security forces recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition.
