NEW DELHI; Differences between prominent constitutions of the National Front, the Telugu Desam (TDP) and Janata Dal, on the issue of op posing prime minister. P. Rao is understood to have written a letter to Janata Dal president S.R. Bommai taking exception to the party’s decision to put up a candidate in consultation with the communist.
Parties contrary to the “agreement” not to fight the bye election on November, 16 next.
Janata Dal sources said Rao told Bommai that the Dal’s decision went against the “agreement” arrived at during the National Front presidium meeting last month that the decision on Nandyal would be left to Telugu Desam since it was he “dominant” font partner in Andhra Pradesh.
Disagreeing with Rao, Dal sources said the agreement did not meant that the Mandal eat should be gifted on a plate to the prime minster or the Congress (I).
(Telugu Desam decided not to con test against Narasimha Rao on the ground that “Telugu pride” would be free by fighting the first prime minister from Andhra Pradesh. CPI sls0 took a similar decision).
Former premier V.P. Singh’s Janata Dal will take a decision on Nanda Amethi and other bye elections when, the party’s political affairs committee meets here on Sunday.
