NEW DELHI: The ruling Congress (I) party will go it alone in the forthcoming by-elections to 16 Lok Sabha (lower house of parliament) and 58 state assembly seats in different parts of the country.
Party spokesman Chandu Lal Chandrakar told reporters here Tuesday that there had been no electoral understanding with any party so far. Chandrakar said Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Rao would file his nomination papers from Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh any day after the conclusion of the two-day meeting of the Congress I parliamentary board beginning Tuesday.
Asked whether the party would parties to enable Rao to win the: seat unopposed Chandrakar said if some parties liked to cooperate with him they were welcome.
