Dear Community Members,
As students in the Punjabi classes at UC Berkeley we are writing to alert you to the dangerous Status of our program. As we’re sure you are aware, the Punjabi Studies program was started at UC Berkeley in fall 1993 thanks to the demands, support and hard work of our community. Yet today that program is on the brink of extinction and we are asking for your help.
As of February 1996 the Center for South Asia Studies at UC Berkeley has announced the discontinuation of our Punjabi program due to lack of funding.
At the present moment we are in need of $50,000 to reinstate Punjabi Studies for next year.
(And to then begin an endowment fund for subsequent years). We only have a fraction of the necessary amount. Please help in any way. Thank You!
