August 15 _ India was divided into two independent sovereign states (A.D. 1947) India and Pakistan. The Sikhs opted for India. Lakhs of them lost their lives. It is a sheer travesty of circumstances that they have not been given the status they were promised and they are still engaged in the struggle to have an appropriate place under the sun of India.
August 16 The Sri Guru Granth Sahib was ceremoniously installed in Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar for the first time in A.D. 1604.
