LUDHIANA: ‘Lok Garzana’ sammelan will be organized on August 15 on the banks of Sutlej River where likeminded political parties would be invited to discuss formation of a Third front for the coming Assembly elections to be held in February. Announcing this at a press conference here, last week, the former MP and president of Lok Yudh Morcha Jagmeet Singh Brar said that the Third front would work unitedly to defeat the Akali Dal BJP alliance. Brar was speaking at the residence of Pushpinder Kaur, joint secretary of the Lok Yudh Morcha. The Janata Dal, Bahujan Samaj Party, Communist parties (CPI and CPM) will be invited for the August 15 sammelan, he said and added: “I have already had a talk with the BSP supremo Kanshi Ram in his connection.” Speaking about the charges against the former Prime Minister and president of Congress P. V. Narasimha Rao, he said the charges are of such a serious nature that Rao should quiton moral grounds. ‘This would also pave way for the rebel Congress leaders to rejoin and strengthen the party,” he added. Observing the united moves by BJP in the recent past, Brar expressed his concern that the party will come to power. In this situation, be said, “A.K. Antony can only save the Congress party.”
As for the attack on some Congress workers during CWC meeting in New Delhi recently, Brar termed it as “a most shameful act” in the 107yearold history of the Congress party when a senior leader like Sharad Pawar had to run to save his life. Brar expressed his hope that the third front would think of joining Cong BSP alliance for the Punjab Assembly polls only if Rao stepped down from the president ship of the party.
