S.A.S. NAGAR: The medical examination of a Nigerian student Iyke Emeruem, who was allegedly tortured by the Mohali police last week, has revealed several injuries on the youth. The medico legal examination, which was conducted at the Rajendra Hospital, Patiala, pointed out that lyke was finding it difficult to walk. Although there were no major external injuries, the patient had pain in his genitalia and other parts of the body. The report advises the patient to be kept under observation. The report was brought by Christine, the wife of the victim. She also showed a notebook to news correspondent, in which she claims Iyke, wrote about the torture which took place at the police station. According to the extracts from the notebook, Iyke was beaten up with hockey sticks at the police station. Later, he was taken to the police station where he was reportedly hung upside down, while his legs were spread apart. His genitals were also pulled hard by the cops there.

Iyke was booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act last week by the local police when 75 grams of smack was allegedly recovered from him. The wife of the accused, however, alleges this to be a fabricated case. She says that Iyke was taken away by the police in her presence from a road crossing near their house. Despite her requests none from the police party raided their house. “They didn’t even search Tyke’s pockets on the spot. They just took him along and claimed to have found the drug,” she said.

The extracts from the notebook claimed that an official at the police station showed him smack. He threatened to book him for possessing the same. G.S. Dhillon, the landlord of Iyke’s house, also said that the police had implicated him in the case. The notebook extracts claim that a senior police officer had been pestering him to be let him spend some time with his girlfriend at his house.
