If you write poetry here is good news. Hollywood’s Famous Poets of America is offering a $1,000.00 Grand Prize to the winner of their new poetry competition, open to everyone, there are 28 prizes in all, including $500.00 for First Prize, $50.00 for Second Prize, and 25 Book Prizes worth $69.95 each. There is no entry fee.

Here are the rules: (1) Your poem may be written on any subject, using any style, (2) it may be no longer than 21 lines, and (3) the deadline for entering is July 31. Judges will apply normal literary standards in judging entries, with a special eye to originality and freshness of ideas. Winners will be announced on Sept. 30 and a winner’s list sent to all entrants.

Says Contest Director Dr. Caroly Vanderbilt: “In a world where poetry is treated as the Cinderella of the Arts, we’d like to help poets find the glass slipper. Even if you have written only one poem, or never entered a contest before, this is your big chance, we invite every poet in California to enter, and as an added incentive we reserve the right to publish winning poems.
