LUCKNOW: Is there are thinking within the Congress on the desiring to rebuild the demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya?

After categorical announcements that the mosque would be rebuilt after Dec.6, senior Congress leaders have been some-what reluctant to talk on the subject.

Two senior party leaders who were in Lucknow recently, have strengthened this impression by their actions and words recently.

Union Health Minister Makhan Lal Fotedar rebuffed a news-man in Kampur when he questioned him on the issue. The scribe wanted to know the Congress plans on rebuilding of the mosque. “Ask the Prime Minister about it,” was the reply.

The remark surprised other newsmen who were present during the informal chat. Other Congress leaders who had visited Kanpur before Fotedar had not objected to it. In fact, they had been eager to give their view point on the subject.

On Tuesday, Congress MP Razi surprised journalists by suggesting that the All India Babri Masjid Action Committee should be dissolved. He chided AIBMAC leaders for demanding that the mosque be built by January 26.

Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh, too, has not been keen on talking on the issue of the rebuilding plans by newspersons in New Delhi on Monday, he was at his evasive best With passions running high, it was important that the question on the temple and the mosque did not occupy prime position at this point of time, he felt.
