SAMATH: Nearly 1000 persons belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have embraced Buddhism here.
The conversions took place at a function organized on Nov.27 by the Bharatiya Buddha Maha Sabha and the initiation was performed by Sri Lankan monk W. Nedanand.
Former Uttar Pradesh Minister Sankatha Shastri who was chief guest said there was no place for un-touch ability casteism or disparity in Buddhism.
