NEW DELHI (PTI): Angry reactions over remarks of senior pro-Hindu Bharitya Janata Party (BJP) leader on the Temple issue and the proposed December 6“Kar Seva” stalled the smooth proceedings of parliament early on Dec.2.

While the lower house (Lok Sabha) was adjourned abruptly till 1400 hours (1st) without transacting any business the Rajya Sabha or the upper house also witnessed heated exchanges but the question hour was taken up following a request by the chairman K.R.Naraynan.

Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Lal Krishna Advani is reported to have said that the construction of Ram temple will start simultaneously with the “Kar Seva” (voluntary service) planned on December 6 in Ayodhya.

Noisy scenes were witnessed in Lok Sabha for about 25 minutes right from the time the house met for the day but what provoked the adjournment was the persistent objection of CPI (M) members led by Tarit Baran Topdar against the chair calling BJP member Atal Behari Vajpayee to place his views.

The CPI (M) members told the speaker that on the one hand he had rejected the demand of National Front and Left Front members for suspension of question hour and taking up a discussion on the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid issue but on the other he was calling Vajpayee to raise the issue.

Question hour in the Rajya Sabha was briefly disrupted with Left and National Front members demanding its suspension for an immediate discussion on Advanis remarks.

The front members however did not press for the suspension in difference to the request by chairman K.R.Narayanan that the matter could be taken up after the question hour.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh state Kalyan Singh on Dec.2 appealed to prime minister P.V.Narasimha Rao to visit the temple town of Ayodhya before the proposed “kar seva” on Dec.6 and assess the ground realities as “seeing is believing.”

The chief minister told the Press Trust of India here that his government had provided “all the required facilities” to the specially appointed court observer for Ayodhya Tej Shanker.

Kalyan Singh who belongs to the Bharitya Janata Party also denied the reports that he would perform kar seva on December 6. Senior party leaders have however declared that they would lead the Vishwa Hindu Parishad sponsored voluntary service for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya on December 6.

He said his government was committed to uphold the sanctity of the constitution and the dignity of the rule of law during the kar seva.

he state government has submitted an affidavit in the supreme court that it will allow only “symbolic” kar seva on December 6 which envisages singing of devotional songs al the site and will not allow any construction activity there.

According to a report received from Ayodhya the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu council) which is spearheading the movement for the construction of the temple has said the Ram Temple would be built “under any circumstances.”

“Kar Seva will take place on Dec.6 from the point we left in July” the organizations joint general secretary Acharya Giriraj Kishore and “Sadhus” told a large gathering of volunteers here.
