GUWAHATI: Any dramatic improvement in the law and order Situation in the northeastern region is unlikely in the foreseeable future as foreign agencies are inciting the insurgency, according to. A memorandum submitted by the Assam government to the 10th finance commission chairman, K.C.Pant, reports said Oct.10.
The memorandum stated that the insurgents had international linkages and powerful eternal support, being provided with a view to destabilising this sensitive and strategic area.
The Assam government had proposed to raise 10 more armed police battalions, including one women police battalion during the period 1995 to 2000 A.D.
