JAMMU: Additional troops have been deployed to beef up border Security in the wake of what top Army authorities described as unchecked provocative actions by Pakistani army from across the Lint of Control (LOG) in Poonch and Rajoun sectors of Jammu region, reported here on Sept.30. “Incidents of firing across the LOC by the Pakistanis has become 4 daily routine with around 3,500 rounds of ammunition being fired to this side each day,” the Army commander told the visiting team of press persons from Jammu during their recent three-day Visit to these Sectors.

‘The situation along the LOC in these Sectors apparently is getting hotter with ceaseless exchanges between the two opposing armies. “We are in an eyeball to eyeball confrontation with the Pakistanis in Poonch and Rajouri sectors for the past one and half year,” an army official said, adding that to check the infiltration and the going Out of militants from across the border, mining had been done.
