WASHINGTON, DC: In 3 historic moves, the U.S. Congress passed the Foreign Aid Authorization bill (H.R.2259), officially cutting $4.1 million in developmental aid to India for its pervasive and ongoing brutality against Sikhs, Kashmiris, Assamese, Christians of Nagaland and others. This is the first time ever Congress has voted to censure India for its violation of human rights, the cut in aid is pan of an en block amendments introduced on June 1617 by Congressmen Vic Fazio and Dan Burton in protest of Indian draconian laws which deny even the most basic human nights to Sikhs. On Sept.30, the Senate voted 87 to 11 in favor of the joint Senate House conference committee report which included the cut in Indian aid. Wednesday.
